Anita Maurer

Anita L. Maurer, 93 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 27, 2025, at the Genesis Morrison House.
She was born on April 3, 1932, in Madisonville, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Justin Ray Bissell and Leota (Baker) Bissell. Anita was a graduate of South High School in Akron, Ohio. She was a past member of the Zanesville Metropolitan Housing Authority and past member of the Zanesville Housing Development Corp. Anita also served as the president of the Hi Rise Resident Council and Zanesville Metro Advising Board; and served as a caretaker for Maple Terrace Hi Rise for 7 years. She enjoyed traveling and working on her Diamond Art in her spare time. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and loved ones.
Anita is survived by her 7 children: Tom Maurer, Alan (Genny) Casto, Sandy (John Wilson) Emerson, Patty (Darrell) Wilson, Ronnie (Rebecca) Maurer, Mike (Doreen) Maurer, Kathy (Jeff) Payne; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Anita is preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Massolini; brothers, Donald Bissell, Howard Bissell; sister, Betty Walder; daughter in law, Peggy Maurer; sister in laws, Jimmie Bissell, Jackie Bissell; and brother-in-law, Bob Walder.
The family would like to sincerely thank the Genesis Morrison House and Genisis Hospital for the care given to Anita.
Calling hours will be held on Friday May 30, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home, where services will be held at 1:00 PM with Pastor Dave Angle from the Dresden Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will conclude services at Frazeysburg Cemetery.
