Meet Uno: This Weeks Dog of The Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – 353 days is how long this week’s Dog of The Week has spent at the K9 Adoption Center, waiting for the right family to walk through the doors.

Uno, a two-and-a-half-year-old terrier, is the k9 Adoption Center’s longest resident. The center took in the energetic and well-mannered puppy as a stray in June of 2024. Uno has been waiting patiently for somewhere to call home ever since.

“He’s ready for adoption. He loves to go for walks, he loves to sit for treats, and he would like to be with someone with a strong arm to hold on to him when he walks until he gets calmed down. He kind of has a pull to him, so it would just be someone that can manage him in that fashion. But otherwise, he would just be a fantastic dog for about anybody,” K9 Adoption Center Volunteer Doug McQuaid said.

Uno is neutered, caught up on vaccines, and gets along great with other dogs. Uno may do best in an active home, where potential owners can take him on walks regularly.

“Maybe older kids, a family with older kids, or someone that would like to go for a walk. He would be a dog that would need to be walked daily. He calms down after a walk, and he’s very manageable after that. But when he first goes outside, it would just be something that you would want to take into consideration doing,” McQuaid said.

The K9 Adoption Center is always looking for volunteers to help take care of dogs like Uno and play a part in helping them get adopted. When stray dogs like Uno come in, it takes volunteers to get to know the dogs to determine what type of home might be best for them.
