Merle E. Pierce, 84, of Crooksville, passed away peacefully at his residence on June 2, 2025, with his wife, Sharon, by his side. Born on Independence Day, July 4, 1940, in Perry County, Merle is a son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Reed) Pierce. A devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, Merle’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Sharon (Bowen) Pierce, and their children: Greg Pierce, Mary Jo Pierce, and Beth (Tim) Patterson. His granddaughter, Braylon Chante’ (Chris Baker) Pierce, and his great-granddaughter, Paisley Marie Baker, who was the sparkle in his eyes. Merle also leaves behind his brother, Jerry (Sue) Pierce; sister, Charlene (Teddy) Barrett; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly. Merle’s professional life was marked by friendship and dedication. He spent 26 years at the Hull Pottery, where he forged lasting friendships and took immense pleasure in his craft. Following his tenure at Hull Pottery, Merle continued his career at Cooper Standard, where he was a valued employee for approximately 20 years until his well-earned retirement in 2006. Outside of his work, Merle had a passion for the thrill of speed and competition. His love for NASCAR was eclipsed only by his own racing career, as he raced stock cars for a remarkable 25 years at local area speedways, leaving behind a legacy of exciting races and memorable victories. When not found behind the wheel, Merle could often be seen in his garage, meticulously working on lawn mowers, which was his main hobby. He was an outdoorsman at heart and often relished his time squirrel hunting. He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Lloyd and Dorothy (Reed) Pierce; brothers, Clifford (Bev) Pierce and Roy (Peggy) Pierce; and his beloved grandchildren, Cody, Shasta, and Sara Olivia and mother-in-law Elizabeth Bowen. Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Ross-Frash Funeral Home, 207 Burley Street, Crooksville, from 10:00 am until the time of service beginning at 1:00pm with Rev.
