Getting Kids To Stay Active This Year

One of the more popular adult New Years resolutions is to lose weight and get in shape. Experts are saying that it’s important to get kids involved now to help promote a healthy lifestyle.
The Fieldhouse Fitness Centers CEO Mick Amicone said it’s important to get in shape at an early age and to start building a healthy lifestyle for our kids.
“We really need to make a concentrated effort to include our kids in our New Year resolutions. We may not have a kid-focused resolution over the past few years, because of all of the technology now available to our children. All of the things that we are seeing within the industry and the CDC about the unfortunate news about childhood obesity inching its way back up again after a 3 year decline,†Amicone said.
There is also a likely hood of less participation in sports due to concussions and other sports related injuries. With sports participation on the possible decline there will be less active kids out there and more cases of obesity in the near future.
The Fieldhouse offers a long list of activities that not only keep adults and kids active, but also makes it fun for the whole family.
“Kickball, wiffleball, nerf games, riding bikes around. We have a bike lane on our track so we are able to let kids ride their bikes. Those are some of the cool things that we do. We are a family focused facility and we hope that we begin to see more parents bring their kids in and help keep them active and healthy,†Amicone said.
