City Council Members Swear In

City Council

Zanesville City Council Members were sworn in for 2016, Monday.

A Swearing in Ceremony welcomed re-elects including President Dan Vincent and three new members to Council. Jan Bradshaw, Joey Osborn, and David Wolfe all took seats and Vincent said he’s excited to have them aboard.

“We have some very intelligent people joining us on Council with a lot of background,” said Vincent. “David Wolfe is a CPA so he has a financial background, a knowledge there that we’ve not yet had on Council before. We fortunately have attorneys but it’s nice to have this other profession so we’re quite excited. Mrs. Osborn has done a lot of work with East Side Community Ministry so she knows a lot about the challenges in this area and she’s lived in different areas in the city so she knows a lot of different things, and a lot of different experiences that’ll be valuable here, very smart lady so excited to have her. Jan Bradshaw, I’m just getting to know but I’m excited to have her here. I hear lots of great things about her so I look forward to working with her also.”

While there are familiar faces returning this year, David Tarbert will join as the new Law Director and Andy Roberts was named President Pro-Tempe which means he’ll fill in for Vincent in the event that Vincent can’t make it to a meeting. Vincent said the Council will work to decrease crime and increase safety in the city of Zanesville in the coming year.

“Safety and crime is a big deal so we’re continuing to work on that, continue to work with Fred Buck and make improvements there,” said Vincent. “It’s not easy. If it was easy all the cities across the nation would be fixing these prime issues but that’s priority number one.”

Following the Swearing in Ceremony, Sue Culbertson was voted by Council to return as Council Clerk. Vincent said she’s a hard worker who bring a lot of knowledge to council from her 10 years of clerkship for the county.
