Project D.A.W.N: Death Avoided With Naloxone

Musk BehavioralZANESVILLE, Ohio- Muskingum Behavioral Health and the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department are partnering to help family and friends of opoid or heroin users with a training program.

It’s called Project Dawn. CEO of Muskingum Behavioral Health, Steve Carrel said this program will educate and ultimately save lives in an emergency situation.

“Project Dawn is an acronym for deaths avoided with Naloxone. It’s an educational program. Participates come and they learn about addiction, overdose, what overdoes looks like and how it works. As well as learn how to administer the Naloxone,” said Carrel.

The Project Dawn seminar will be held on January 26th at the health department from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Carrel said during the training participants will practice with mannequins administering the medication.

“We take them all the way from this is what addiction is. This is what overdose looks like. Lets practice how to administer the Naloxone properly and how to get help,” said Carrel.
