Home Instead gifts $20K to Local Nonprofits

NEWARK, OH- Two Muskingum County nonprofits received a major boost this week thanks to a donation from a local senior care provider.
Home Instead, a company dedicated to improving care for older adults, awarded $10,000 each to Christ’s Table and The Carr Center as part of a $40,000 total gift to four organizations across Muskingum and Licking counties.
“We all do this work because we really care about the people in the community, we care about the people that we serve, the seniors, and we have great stories and great relationships, and I just feel like this takes what we do and just expands it,” said Director of Organizational Development at Home Instead Deborah Archer.
Christ’s Table, a nonprofit soup kitchen serving hot meals to those in need, and The Carr Center, which provides educational and support programs for children and adults, were chosen by Home Instead’s local team after the company received a milestone award from its home office.
For those at Christ’s Table, the gift couldn’t have come at a better time. The funds will be used to help purchase more meat products for the nonprofit.
“I have to stretch my budget as far as I can, and this will really help push me through almost the rest of the year,” said Kitchen and Facilities Manager at Christ’s Table Tim Collins.
Katie Graham, Executive Director of The Carr Center, said the donation reflects the heart of their mission. The funds will be used to for their Adult Day Program to take older members of the community on field trips.
“It means so much, our clients just aren’t our clients, they’re our family, like today we went to Velvet Ice Cream, and just to spend time with them, and hear their stories and their smiles, and getting out in the communities that they live in, it means so much to us and to them, and to see them happy and see them smiling, it just means so much to us,” said Graham.
Home Instead leaders say this is the most special and significant award they’ve received in their years of service.
