Zanesville Memorial Concert Band Returns for 102nd Season
ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band is getting ready for a summer full of good tunes and fun memories.
The Band is getting ready to host its second concert of the season this Sunday, June 15th, at 7PM at Zane’s Landing.
David Turrill, the Band’s Artist Director, said the theme of this concert is “Decades” and you’ll hear everything from the Beatles to Elvis to Adele. He said what keeps the band coming back year after year is the community.
“We’re a continuation of the prior seasons, we always have themes, we always get a new design for our artwork and our posters,” Turrill said. “We’re always increasing our audience base, that’s our goal, we have started in the last couple of years trying to draw in more community partnerships.”
Turrill says concert goers are able to bring a chair or blanket to sit on and in the event of rain, the concert will be moved inside to Secrest Auditorium. They will also have a chance to make their very own egg shaker that they can use at the concert during the Bruno Mars Medley.
“It’s just a really great atmosphere, we give away magnets that have our season on them, we give away hand fans because it can get hot in the summer, as you can imagine,” Turrill said. “Then we have a Youth Group that sells popcorn and water, we do some various fundraising activities too.”
