County projects ranked for Issue 1 funding

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Â The Muskingum County Subcommittee met to prioritize projects for Issue I funding.
As a county, the committee applies for different projects every year for the funding.
The four projects that the committee ranked were the Muskingum County road and bridge improvements, City of Zanesville Northpoint Drive citywide overlays, Muskingum County road resurfacing and the village of New Concord water storage tank replacement, in that respective order.
Chip Saunders, City Engineer for Zanesville, said he felt good about the outcome of the rankings.
“When three out of our four projects have a good chance of going down to the district and getting funded, obviously we’re doing good applications here at Muskingum County,†said Saunders.
The New Concord water storage tank replacement was ranked last, but Saunders said that project is eligible to apply for other small government funding.
“I would be surprised if all 3 of those projects that we sent that were above the threshold did not get funded,†said Saunders.
The committee also appointed a fifth member, Matt Russell, the Administrative Deputy of Muskingum County Engineers Office, to meet Issue I requirements.
