18th Annual Power of the Purse

ZANESVILLE, OH – It’s time again for a beloved community fundraiser.

The 18th Annual Power of the Purse Fundraiser Auction is happening this Saturday, June 14th from 4:30PM to 7:30PM at the Campus Center at Zane State College.

Marlene Henderson, the Founder and Co-Chair, says over 300 women have signed up for this event and there will be about 100 purses and incentives to be auctioned off.

“It’s all about raising money for one thing and the money staying in the community for our nonprofits.” Henderson said. “It just builds our community stronger and stronger every year that we do this.”

All of the proceeds from Power of the Purse will be headed to 5 different non-profit organizations here in Muskingum County; Muskingum Behavioral Health, Project Blueprint 740, AIM Outreach, MCLS, and A Storybook Christmas.

Heather Devoll, another Co-Chair, says in addition to the live auction there will also be a silent auction, raffles as well as some pick a purse drawings.

“I would think that this is probably our biggest year, so we’re pretty excited about it.” Devoll said. “I’m excited to be able to announce those numbers when we get there.“

Devoll says the goal for this year’s Power of the Purse Fundraiser is about $80,000.
