Community Rallies Around Local Family after House Fire

A local family of five is coping with the loss of their home Monday.

Just Sunday night the Creech family in Frazeysburg lost their home to a fire that crews worked to control for more than five hours. The blaze started on the porch of the home and when father Mark Creech couldn’t extinguish it, he called 911. When Frazeysburg, Dresden, and Licking Township Fire Departments arrived the home was fully engulfed and is now considered a total loss. Now the family is working to move on.

“They kind of go through moments where ‘This is going to be okay. We’ll get over this.’ and then they have moments of ‘Oh my goodness, we can’t replace this. We can’t replace that’ so they’re just in shock so if everybody could just pray for them. That’s the main thing right now,” said Sister of Darla Creech Darlene Hall.

The community is stepping up to help the family in this time of need. Their church, More Life Church in Newark, is collecting donations Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., as well as the All-Star Pre-School.

“I’m so thankful for the community to lift them up during this difficult time,” said Hall. “Like my sister said, it was a nightmare that came true. Nobody ever wants to come home to that and I just ask that everybody just pray for them right now. ”

The local community will also host a benefit for the family on Jan. 30 from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Heath Eagles and donations are already flooding in. You can send your thoughts to ‘Creech Love’ Facebook page and get information about the benefit.
