Meet Maggie: This Week’s Dog of the Week

Submitted by WHIZ Intern Maddie Luebkert

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — This week’s dog of the week isn’t letting the June humidity dampen her excitement for meeting families and finding her forever home.

Meet 5-year-old Maggie. Like the recent weather, Maggie is not slow to warm up. Despite her only two months spent at the adoption center, Maggie is a friend to all and is already performing tricks and rolling over for belly rubs from adoption center volunteers.

“She’s a Heeler mix, approximately 5 years old, already spayed, does well with dogs and kids, loves to go on walks (and is) great on a leash. We found out she’ll sit for treats, loves to play fetch, you can throw the ball, and she’ll bring it right back to you so (she’d) be a great family dog who likes to do things like that, just to be able to go out and play,” K-9 Adoption Center Volunteer Doug McQuaid said.

Seemingly the only thing missing for this well-behaved, playful and animal-friendly dog is a loving family to take her home. To help Maggie find a home to beat the heat this summer, the adoption center is on the lookout for families interested in walking and playing with the dogs at the K-9 Adoption Center.

“We’re looking for dog walkers. It can be a family affair where you bring your whole family out and maybe go into the play area. Things like that help them with adoptions, the different things that we find out about them that people ask questions about. So, like I said there’s so many different things when it comes to interacting with dogs that come into us as strays with us not having any knowledge at all, it makes it sometimes hard for us to answer questions for the different things that are asked to us,” McQuaid said.
