Schubach Big Band to Launch Summer Concert Series
ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Schubach Big Band is set to kick off its concert series.
The band began when band leader David Schubach moved back to Zanesville from Hollywood. It’s now entering its 14th year serving the Zanesville community.
“The Schubach Big Band is getting ready to start this year’s Straker concert series, the Strakers have sponsored three different concerts, and the first one is next Wednesday [June 25] at the senior center downtown which is right across the street from Secrest Auditorium,” Schubach said.
The first concert in the series starts at 11:15 a.m., an unusual time for the band, but they wanted to do something special for the seniors. The concert is free and open to the public. Expect birthday celebrations, dancing, good music and more.
“This summer will be our 14th year of giving concerts in the park. We have our annual Zane’s Landing concert August 3, the first Sunday in August at 7pm, we look forward to it. “Last year we started a holiday concert that was well received, so we intend to do that again in December. Haven’t set the date yet, but that will be at Central Presbyterian Church,” Schubach added.
If you’d like to support the Schubach Big Band outside of the concert series, they’ll be performing for the Baltimore, Ohio, Bicentennial from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday [June 22] at the west end of Market Street.
