Hoops For Troops

An event is planned this week in Zanesville to honor local veterans and the men and woman that are currenlty serving in the armed forces.

Tony Coury, Athletic Director at Bishop Rosecrans said that they got the idea from other schools across the country supporting their local troops via social media.

“We thought this was a really good idea and we wanted to do something like that. We did something similar earlier this year at one of our girl’s basketball games. We’re just trying to grow this event to say thank you to our local veterans. It will be a fun night out, two good teams going at it on a Friday night,” said Coury.

The event will take place at Bishop Rosecrans High School at 6pm when the Boys team plays Coshocton.

During half time, veterans will be honored by being recognized and will receive a flag.

All veterans that show up to the game will receive free admittance to the game.

Coury said that he hopes to have a good turn out this Friday night and hopes to turn this into a yearly event to honor our troops.
