Maysville Duo Picks Walsh

Two Maysville Panthers signed to the same school Wednesday morning in Southtown.

Running back-turned-receiver Chase Roberts and offensive lineman Nik Smith both picked the Division II Walsh Cavaliers. The Panther duo will join former Maysville standout Jeremy Willison in Canton.

"Me and (Chase) have been best friends since 4th grade so this just makes us tighter," Smith said. "It feels good knowing that I’m going to be playing with him again for another four (years)."

Roberts earned second team All-Ohio honors this past season while Smith was named special mention. Both Panthers had plenty of Division II and Division III interest from other schools, but decided that picking the same program was the best fit.

"I went to Mount Union also, but I just felt that Walsh had the better fit for me," Roberts said.

Roberts plans to major in business management while Smith will major in exercise science.
