Jaws Of Life Used to Extricate Driver After Three Car Crash

The Jaws Of Life had to be used to extricate a driver after a 3 car crash on Dresden road Thursday night.

Around 7:00 p.m. a call came in reporting a multi-car accident on the intersection of Fernbank and Dresden Road. Trooper Troy Hale of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said 87-year-old Bernard Mitchell of Zanesville was driving down Dresden Road when he was attempting to make a left hand turn on Fernbank road. That’s when a black SUV, driven by 36-year-old Dustin Patterson of Zanesville struck a car in between their cars. That car was driven by 64-year-old Michelle Wilson, also of Zanesville. The contact pushed Wilson’s car into Mitchell’s and then off of the side of the road and into a driveway wall of a nearby house.

"I think the driver in between the at fault vehicle and the first vehicle, I think she is seriously injured. We had to cut her out of her car and I think just minor injuries for the lead car, the one that was going to make a left hand turn onto Fernbank," said Trooper Hale.

Wilson was transported to a hospital in Columbus with a broken neck. Tropper Hale said Dustin Patterson, the driver of the at fault vehicle, will be cited with assured clear distance ahead. Hale said Paterson admitted to being distracted while driving.  Falls Township Fire Department was on the scene to assist.
