Hotline Cards for Domestic Violence

A local organization offers businesses hotline information for those suffering from Domestic Violence.

Soroptimist International of the Americas Zanesville chapter is giving businesses hotline cards so their employees who are suffering or know someone who’s suffering from domestic violence can have immediate help. Soroptimist member, Kim Brandfass said that work is a safe haven for the victims just like it was for her.

“I had my boss at the time and a very dear and near close friend that I worked with and they helped me survive,” said Brandfass.

Amy Hursey a soroptimist member said she always felt she was smart and wondered how she got into an abusive relationship. Now Hursey knows a lot of people suffering from domestic violence feel the same as she did. Hursey said that education is the key to breaking this cycle.

“You put the education out there, you teach people there is help, you teach people these are the signs and this person needs you to reach out to them,” Hursey said. “That’s the beginning of breaking the cycle and that’s when it becomes not acceptable any more.
