Noble Correctional Institution Prepares Offenders To Reenter Society
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Noble Correctional Institution is doing its part to reconnect inmates with their community.
Warden Tim Buchanan spoke to the Zanesville Noon Rotary Club on the way he is making that happen.
“Direct link with the community. Our staff realizes that they have to be a bridge to be able to reconnect the offenders back to the community. That’s the only real way to decrease our recidivism and get these guys back home. It connects them with community resources with the real people that do the job in the community. We will have safer communities and we can really impact public safety,” said Buchanan.
Buchanan said programs like these are important so the offenders won’t reoffend.
“In our institution we have a lot of different resources. We have a lot of community connections. A lot of staff that take that initiative to reach out, work with our local reentrance coalition to built that bridge. Whether it’s programming, services, linkage, job preparedness. All different aspects to get these men ready to go back to Zanesville area and to Ohio to be restored citizens,” said Buchanan.
Buchanan said the Noble Correctional Institution offers a variety of programs from animal training to automotive repair so when the offenders are free they can become employed and successful members of society.
