American Stave Company Donates to ABC Wilson Fund

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local business donates to help save lives.

Friday, the American Stave Company presented the Zanesville Fire Department with a $2,000 check for the ABC Wilson Fund which supplies the community with free smoke detectors.

“Recently I spent some time before Safety Council basically begging for money. Our ABC Wilson Fund had dried up. For about 2 months we didn’t have any smoke detectors at all. We know that smoke detectors save lives. So just a few days ago, when Kelly called me and she said hey are you ready for that check. I said absolutely,” said Assistant Fire Chief Zanesville Fire Department Doug Hobson.

Assistant Fire Chief Hobson was able to get $400 from the Safety Council to replenish the fund.

“It put a few smoke detectors back into our fund. She said will I’d like to tell you how much the check it for. And when she told me $2,000. I was flabbergasted. You don’t know what that does for Muskingum County. Smoke detectors save lives. I told Kelly I was ready to cry,” said Hobson.

“We’re very honored and enthusiastic that we’re able to help with the ABC Wilson Fund by getting smoke detectors for the residents of Muskingum County, ” said Kelly Price.

Hobson said thanks to the American Stave Company that money will supply 500 smoke detectors for the residents of Muskingum County.
