Junction City Chief of Police Amy English Runs For Sheriff
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The race for Perry County Sheriff is underway.
Village of Junction City Chief of Police Amy English will go head to head against Perry County Sheriff William Barker in November.
“My heart is here. My heart is in it. And I saw how far law enforcement has come since we started. And I know how much further we need to go. I saw how much further we needed to go. I want to do that part to take law enforcement to the future. And by doing that now at this point in my career, it’s by leading. I just think we can really improve what we have. We have really good foundation and the only way to go from there is build up,” said Chief English.
This is not the first face off between Chief English and Sheriff Barker.
“This is my third run. People kept asking me. Are you going to run? My response to them is do you want me to? And their answer was yes. It’s time for a change. This time it’s not for me. I’m running because the people of Perry County has asked me to run,” said English.
If elected Chief English will be the 3rd woman to hold the position of sheriff in the State of Ohio.
