ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Zanesville.

Saturday community members did not let the inclement weather this morning deter them from decorating and preparing Zane’s Landing Park for A Storybook Christmas. We spoke to first time volunteer, and Mid-East Career and technology Centers, Junior Trevor Oler about his first time experience volunteering.

“I thought it would be really nice to set this up for everybody, because a lot of people like to come out here and enjoy the lights,” Oler said. “I just thought it would be cool.”

Mid-East Career students helped revitalize some of the old light fixtures.

“Some of the lights weren’t working so they were replaced and some of the wires were stripped. We just put tape around them.So it wouldn’t shock anybody when they were using them,” Oler said.

Oler enjoyed his experience so much much he plans on volunteering again next year. Oler said what he likes most about this time of year is the feeling of comradery.
