27th Annual Student and Teacher Recognition Ceremony

Students, teachers and aspiring administrators are being acknowledged for their leadership and excellence shown in Muskingum county area schools.

The 27th Annual Student and Teacher Recognition Ceremony was held Wednesday at the Ohio University of Zanesville campus in the Elson Hall Auditorium. Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center Superintendent, David Branch said 49 people received awards.

"For the Susan Writing Awards, five area high school students will receive $1,000 scholarships as a results of their writing that was submitted. We have the Franklin B. Walter award winners. There is one from each high school in our five counties. The county winners will be receiving 500 dollar scholarships," said David N. Branch, Superintendent, Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center.

Branch said the part of the ceremony he enjoys the most is the faculty recognition.

"Each of the high school in our two career centers have named an outstanding senior. Then that outstanding senior has nominated a teacher that has played a really important role in that students life and that teacher will also be recognition," said Branch.

Branch said the Franklin B. Walter winners will also receive recognition by the Ohio Education Service Center Association in Columbus on April 13th.
