Early Voting in Muskingum County

The Ohio Presidential Primary is less than one week away and the state said 200,000 ballots have been cast early for the election.

Voters are able to vote in person or by mail. Muskingum County Board of Elections Director, Timothy Thompson updated us on voting locally.

"The Secretary of State released numbers for early voting and in Muskingum County we have had a total of 2,440 request for absentee ballots or early voting request and actually have received back 18,039. It’s been a good turnout a lot less than we would expected but, it has gotten busier this week so we are expecting several more to come in this week," said Timothy Thompson.

Thompson said if you want to have an absentee ballot mailed to you your application must be in at the Board of Elections office on Saturday by noon. However, you can still vote early in person until Monday at 2 pm.

"Next Tuesday the polls open at 6:30 and poll workers will be out at 5:30 in the morning getting things ready and we have 68 precincts in Muskingum county and 35 locations," said Thompson.

All ballots must either be postmarked before election day or delivered in person to the Muskingum County Board of Elections on Election Day.
