Philo Community Mourns Former Coach Wright

DUNCAN FALLS, OH

On Friday, June 27th, tragedy struck Muskingum county when long time football coach Josh Wright sadly passed away.

He made multiple stops over his three decades in coaching before his untimely passing, whether as an assistant or the head man. However, the newly named head coach at Tri-Valley might be best known for his near decade and a half as an assistant at Philo High School

Over in Duncan Falls, the Electrics community honored its late coach.

“I think the impact that he had was that he was so well respected by people. He treated people with respect, he was always well prepared, he was very dedicated to what he did” said Philo head coach Dirk Lincicome.

Former coaches, players, and fans rallied to support Wright, who spent 13 seasons donning a headset for the Electrics, which included two MVL titles over that span, before he moved on to Tri-Valley.

As shown by the support from former coaches, players, and fans alike, the Philo faithful came in droves to support a coach who inspired a generation of young athletes.

Lincicome continued, “He would do anything he was asked to do and sometimes do things he wasn’t even asked to do. So [I’m] just very grateful for his work ethic and the way he treated people was just second to none.”

Tri-Valley High School will hold a vigil of its own at Jack Anderson Stadium on Wednesday, July 9th, at 8:30 pm.
