Householder Wins in Tuesday’s Primary
Former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder has advanced in his efforts to return to the Statehouse. Tuesday night he beat Cliff Biggers in the republican primary for the 72nd district statehouse seat by over 5000 votes. He will face John Carlisle in November. The veteran republican from Perry County left Columbus a decade ago due to term limits. At the time he and several top advisers were under federal investigation for alleged money laundering and irregular campaign practices. The government closed the case without filing charges. Householder’s speakership lasted from 2001 to 2004. The ex-speaker has said unfinished business on policy matters spurred him to run again in his eastern Ohio district.
