9th Annual Riverfest Celebrates the Muskingum River

MALTA, OH- This year’s 9th Riverfest brought new sounds and new surroundings as the Muskingum Riverway Advocacy Council hosted its annual event in Malta for the first time.
Organizers moved the festival to a different stretch of the Muskingum River to highlight the full reach of the waterway, which spans across four counties. The change in location is part of a growing effort to engage with more communities connected to the river.
“This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, we of course take donations all through the year, but this is our biggest gathering of folks who love the river, who want to help us preserve, promote, monitor, the historic and economic and recreational parts of the Muskingum River which we all love,” said Muskingum Riverway Advocacy Council President, Aimee Kain.
The event featured raffles, auctions, food, drinks, and new this year there was live music by Twin City Band.
“Memberships to M.R.A.C. are all donation based, we do have a structure just to make it easy for folks but that really gets you the inline communication that we provide, here’s what we’re working on, giving you an idea of what are some of the things we really tap in to at MRAC, and what are some things that you could be thinking about as your boating and on the river,” said Kain.
