Dog licenses are now available for purchase

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Dog licenses for the new year are now available for purchase in Muskingum County.

The $10 license is required for canines three months or older. To avoid a penalty the dog license must be purchase by January 31st.

“When you allow your dogs to go out to go to the bathroom they may run away,” Muskingum County, Auditor, Debra Nye said. “There are all kinds of animals; coyotes and foxes thing out there [that could] scare your dog. If you don’t have a dog tag then we can not reunite the owner with their dog.”

As part of a special deal, one year old Labrador retriever mix name Gypsy is available for adoption Friday at 10 a.m. for $60. Gypsy has all her shots and thanks to the Muskingum County Auditor she also has a dog license and a lot more.

“There’s multiple things that we’re giving away to this particular dog, and the total value is $278 worth of gifts,” Nye said.
