New Kidsville Park Construction This Fall

In 2015, City Council sent in a submission to receive a federal grant of up to $150,000 from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the replacement of the existing Kidsville structure.

On Monday night, Zanesville City Council confirmed that the project will begin in 2016. Jay Bennett, Public Service and Community Development Director of the City of Zanesville said the project will be done at the same location of the existing Kidsville park.

“The concept is to replace on the existing footprint at Kidsville with a new play structure. The application that we submitted to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources contained an element that we wanted to add a little splash for the kids,” said Bennett.

In order to receive the grant, the city is required to match the grant that they would receive dollar for dollar.

“We have a lot of support from organizations and sponsorships, all of those hours of volunteer labor count towards the local match of the grant dollar for dollar,” said Bennett.

Bennett said advertisements for the new park will be this April, but construction won’t take place until in the fall of 2016.
