Michael R. Conner Sr., 57, of Byesville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday (July 20, 2025).

He was born March 3, 1968 in Cambridge, son of Gene Harris and the late Helen (Lantz) Harris.

In 1986, Michael graduated from Meadowbrook High School and enlisted in the US Army. He attended Airborne Ranger training and remained active in the Ohio National Guard – McConnelsville Base until his retirement as a SGT from the US Army. He was a member of the American Legion of Belle Valley.

He enjoyed the outdoors be it fishing, hunting, shooting, camping, hiking, or simply sitting and enjoying the great outdoors. He was an active member of the NRA of Cambridge.

He was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR fan.

Michael cherished his time teaching youth as a devoted member of the Boy Scouts of America, where he was Master Scout and Assistant Master Scout for various dens since 1997. He was also active in 4-H. He was an organizer of the Youth Shooting Sports Foundation (YSSF).

He is preceded in death by his mother; and his grandmothers, Bessie May (Helmick) Lantz and Ruth Deloris (Eddy) Harris.

Michael is survived by his father, Gene Harris of Byesville; a daughter, Cynthya Repasky of Phenix AL; three sons, Michael R. Conner Jr. of Caldwell, Austin (Megan) Conner of Byesville, and Christopher (Myranda) Conner of Byesville; Travis Harper, who was like a son to him; a brother, H. William (Angela) Harris of Westerville; a sister, Rebecca (Allen) Sandidge of Minneola FL; five grandchildren, Alexandria, Gabrielle, Willow, Bode, and Sidney; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his best friend, George Payton; the mother of his children, Lorrie Ann Conner; and his dog, Max.

Visitation will be held Thursday (July 24, 2025) from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville, where funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Military services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council will be held at the funeral home at the conclusion of funeral service.
