Lenora Jean Gilgien was born on January 27, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio to William and Virginia Gilgien. She was raised by her mother and stepfather, Charles Easterday. In 1969 she met the love of her life, Bernard Vincent West and for the next 47 years dedicated her life to her faith and family. For many years they made their home in Lancaster, Ohio and raised their family there, along with providing daycare to other families. In 1996 they moved to Zanesville where Gee Gee worked for Sears and focused on helping to care for her grandchildren. She always put her family first and was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. Gee Gee had many struggles through her life, but her journey of Faith in Jesus through the years transformed her. She would often say, “Worrying is like a rocking chair, gives you something to do but gets you nowhere.”
In addition to her parents and her husband, Vincent, she is preceded in death by her Grandmother Gilgien, an infant Daughter, and Brothers Fred and Gary Gilgien. Left to cherish fond memories and remember her loving words of encouragement are her Son, Tim (Tiffany) West and Daughter, Heather Murphy, Siblings: Joseph Gilgien, Kevin Gilgien, and Anna Spott. Grandchildren: Mira West, Ezekiel West, Alexus (Mike) Campbell, Blaine (Emily) Marcum, Cayci (Chase) Enmen, Payden Marcum, Jordan Mills, Kayleigh Mills, and Malachi Marcum. Great Grandchildren: Oliver Campbell, Charlotte Campbell, Weston Campbell, Parklin McCloud, Calin Marcum, Corey Marcum and Crue Enmen. Her fur babies, Delilah and Daisy surely miss her, like the rest of us.
Family has chosen a loving cremation and a celebration of life service on Sunday, July 27 2025 at 3:00 pm at Unity Church of the Nazarene, with Rev. Jammie West officiating for all those who knew and loved her.
