ZANESVILLE, Ohio- For two decades the Souper Bowl has raised more than $230,000 for nonprofits that feed people in Muskingum County.

In October, Souper Bowl raised more than $13,000 which was distributed to Christ’s Table, The Salvation Army, Community for Christ, The Senior Center, and Eastside Community Ministries.

“We started with two churches,”Souper Bowl, Co-founder, Bill Factor said. “Now we have 24 churches. It’s become an ecumenical thing. We’ve gotten people from all religions to come together to work on community project and that’s very satisfying.”

Eastside Community Ministries, Executive Director, Jamie Trout shared her thoughts on receiving this donation Tuesday.

“It feels really good,” Trout said. “We are very blessed. This community is always outpouring into Eastside Community Ministries and the other organizations that are involved.”

“It help us purchase things that we do not get donated like meat, bread, eggs, milk, cereal. The more expensive item that we don’t receive on a day to day basis,” Trout said.

Trout is appreciative of all the people that participated in the Souper Bowl and hope to have more success in years to come.
