Upon arrival, Thornville Fire Chief Jeremy Weekly said that they immediately requested back up. Due to windy conditions, the fire took longer than expected to contain, but was contained within a few hours causing the barn to be a total loss.

Weekly said that the barn was used as a welding shop and there were no injuries reported. Weekly mentioned that they used standard procedure for the fire in a rural area due to the lack of fire hydrant availability.

Multiple fire departments and teams responded including Richland, Millersport, Walnut, Somerset, Licking, Buckeye Lake, and Granville. Weekly also mentioned that some local farmers aided to the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
