ZANESVILLE, Ohio – December 8, 2016 in the evening Muskingum County Zanesville City Joint Drug Unit had a drug search warrant for 725 Bates Street off of Pine street.

Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury said Muskingum County Swat Team entered the residence and Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says they were able to seize a small amount of Marijuana, Cocaine, and U.S. Currency. Six people were taken into custody, interviewed, and later released.

“This Residence has been for the Zanesville and Muskingum County a problem for quite some time the last few weeks have been the residence of two overdoses [and] numerous complaints from citizens and neighbors,” Chief Coury said.

Coury said investigations through Zanesville Police Department, Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, and the drug task force have led back to 725 Bates Street.

“We do take the information from our citizens and it doesn’t fall on deaf ears,” said Sheriff Lutz. “Sometimes it might appear to be because it takes us a while to get enough probable cause to get into these places. It’s just a matter of us, you know, taking the time to get into it legally.”

Lutz said that if they can seize the property, they’ll do it to make sure the property can no longer be used for drug sales. The Zanesville Police Department and Muskingum County Sheriff’s office expect some formal charges and follow up investigations that may lead to some other arrests and search warrants.
