County Commissioners made decision on health department merge

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A decision has been made for the merge for the Health Department.

The Muskingum County Commissioners met Monday afternoon and announced they have approved the merge the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department proposed.

“So they decided that they would move the Board of Elections out of the building and that they would add an addendum to the Health Departments lease to add that square footage on so that we can move all of our staff into one building,” said Hamilton.

This would move the Board of Elections out of their current location and to a location on Putnam Avenue.

Hamilton said deciding on a place large enough to accommodate the Health Department was difficult. The main concern is the challenges with parking but she said she thinks that’s something they can overcome.

“I think to move all of the Health Department staff into one building just makes good logical sense for efficiency and effectiveness and trying to be a better service to the community,” said Hamilton.

Plans on when the move will take place are still being determined.
