Potential Online Payment Service For Taxpayers

Chris Hamill, Muskingum County Treasurer said she thinks that an additional online payment method would be more convenient for taxpayers.

Hamill said the current methods of payment for taxpayers are either by check or cash. The new online payment method would allow the taxpayer to use a Credit Card, Visa Debit Card, or an Electronic Check.

Pending approval by the commissioners, Hamill said that a website would then be created to make your online payments. She did mention that there will be a small additional fee depending on what online payment method you select.

The fee charge for a Credit Card is 2.5%, Debit Cards are a flat fee of $3.95, and Electronic Checks are $1.50.

Hamill is hopeful to have the new payment service launched before tax bills are due on June 24th this year.
