2nd Annual Walk-Run For Autism

Dozens of people gathered to participate in the walk, but more importantly to spread the word of Autism Awareness Month. Dr. Cassandra McDonald, C.E.O of C.A.S.S M.I.N.D. Autism Learning Center said the event had doubled in size since last year.

“We have 51 businesses that have participated with donations and support within the community. It has really turned out to be a community affair to support Autism Awareness Month,” said McDonald.

The walk took place in the neighborhood around the autism center and McDonald is extremely thankful for the volunteers from Ohio University Zanesville (OUZ) that are helping to ensure that everyone is safe during the event along with all the friends and families that helped organize the event.

“We are really proud of them, they are wearing vests to help ensure that everything is secure and going well during the walk. We have lots of fun games and amazing food. We have families that have gone and spent hours and hours going to different businesses that are doing our cooking. We also have this fabulous band that comes here each year. It’s very rewarding to see that we are coming together for a great cause,” said McDonald.

McDonald said all of the money that they raised on Sunday is going directly into the academy to support their cause.
