ZANESVILLE, Ohio-Phlio High School’s senior class will be hosting a memorial cystic fibrosis walk in honor of a classmate who recently passed away.
Kaitlyn Grannon lost her battle with cystic fibrosis 3 weeks ago. Senior class vice president Jace Swingle said this event is a way to celebrate Grannon’s life, ease the financial burden for her parents, and raise awareness about cystic fibrosis. The walk will take place on Saturday, April 30th from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. It will be held at the Philo Track complex.
“At the walk, we’ll have a DJ,” said senior class vice president Jace Swingle. “We are going to have a silent auction. We’re going to have food or concessions. They are going to be some games to play, a bounce house. As well as t-shirts and shirts for sell.”
All proceeds will go to the Grannon family for funeral and medical expenses as well as cystic fibrosis foundation for research.
“Just live life. That was her thing, she wanted to just live. She didn’t want anybody to know she was sick. She just wanted to have fun, go out. and just be herself. We want to get the word out about cystic fibrosis. Even though I was good friends with her, I didn’t even know much about cystic fibrosis until she passed. And then I learned more about it,” said Swingle.
A bonfire and potluck will follow the walk, with a lantern launch at dark.
