Meet Willow; This Week’s Dog of the Week

ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s dog of the week is chock-full of puppy energy.

Meet Willow! She’s a one-year-old shepherd-husky mix who’s spayed, does well with children as well as other dogs, and is looking for a loving family.

Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer with the K-9 Adoption Center, said due to her age, Willow is high energy but it all works out because she loves to learn new tricks.

“She loves to play in our play yard, run around, just kind of have that care free [attitude],” McQuaid said. “We know that she is not house broken, so she would basically need a little time and so forth, effort and routine. Very easily seem like other things that we’ve been trying to teach her, she’s trying to do things but may need a little assistance, a little bit of time and effort you can make her do about anything you want.”

McQuaid is also urging pet owners to use caution with the high heat predicted in our forecast.

He suggests taking shorter walks when there’s a heatwave because the temperature of the concrete could burn your pups paws.

“I realize, also to, water is the essential with staying hydrated and I realize with the heat itself can heat up a swimming pool in the backyard, how quickly the water that you give them heats up as well,” McQuaid said. “And it makes it where it’s not very desirable so that’s another thing.”
