MCLS, Area Agency on Aging Team Up for Elder Care Program

Elder Care

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Library System is teaming up with the Area Agency on Aging for an informational program on Elder Care.

On Tuesday, August 5th from 1 to 2PM at the New Concord Branch, the Library will be hosting a program about fall prevention as well as long term care options for loved ones.

Jeffery Cornett, the Assistant Reference Librarian, says fall prevention is a very important topic because nearly 40,000 people die each year from an injury from a fall.

“The Area Agency of Aging is going to be talking about the opportunities they offer for the public and it’s an important thing, showing the Library connecting people to these agencies and this information.” Cornett said.

Cornett says Leisha Hickenbottom is a certified Dementia Care Practitioner and Caregiver Education Coordinator and she will lead the program.

He says it’s amazing to be able to partner up with other area agencies to be able to bring programs like this to the community.

“It’s a lot about connectivity and that’s what libraries do.” Cornett said. “As part of our vision statement, the Muskingum County Library System helps to create a vibrant Muskingum County Community.”

The Elder Care program is free but registration is required.

If you are interested in signing up, you can head to the Library’s website.
