Donald Pettit

Donald Gene Pettit, 91, of Newark, passed away on Thur. Aug. 7, 2025 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 7, 1934 in Licking View,Ohio, a son of the late Fenton F.W. and Pauline Lou Lou (Emmert) Pettit. He was retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Newark. He also worked at Whites Machine Shop in Zanesville. Way back he worked at North American Rockwell. He had served as a volunteer at Somerset Fire Department. He was a member of the Zanesville Sertoma and Eagles. He was an avid golfer, golfing any chance he could get. He also loved fishing, playing cards, shooting pool, mushroom hunting, hunting, and being with his family.

He is survived by his loving wife Annie Pettit. Seven children Rebecca (Randy) Thomas of Nashport, Donald (Jane) Pettit of Crooksville, Robert Pettit of Warsaw, Gary (Kelli) Pettit of Heath, Roger Pettit of Zanesville, Jennifer (Cliff) Burk of West Lafayette, and Edith (Tucker Randles) Rhodes of Heath. 20 grandchildren, 48 greatgrandchildren,2 great-greatgrandchildren. One sister Betty (Kenneth) Harris. Four step-children Dee Heyder, Jodee Heyder, Rolly Heyder, and Julie Hurtt.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of almost 50 years Ruth Ann (Shipley) Pettit. One daughter Denise Ann Pettit. Two daughter-in-laws Deborah Pettit and Beverly Pettit. His brothers Rolland, Bernard, Fenton, Ralph, Raymond, Jim, and Wayne. One grandson Levi Thomas. One greatgrandson Johnathon Campbell. Several brother and sister-in-laws. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Mon. Aug. 11, 2025 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Falls officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery near Sonora.
