William “Bill” Shaw

William “Bill” Alexander Shaw, 84 of Zanesville died peacefully at 9:26 PM Thursday, August 14, 2025, at his home under hospice care and surrounded by his family.
He was born November 1, 1940, in Portage, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph William Shaw and Mildred Mayers Shaw Kuhns.
Bill was a United States Air Force Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was employed at the Elliott Company in Jeanette, Pennsylvania as the Senior Contract Engineer. Bill was a member of the Moose Lodge 867, Eagles and a lifetime member of the American Legion. In his earlier years of life, he enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, golf and hunting.
He is survived by his two children, Anita (Doug) Ferguson and Paul “Jerry” Shaw; his girlfriend, Virginia Doty; a brother, Joe (Dana) Shaw; Eight grandchildren, Benjamin (Shelaine) Ferguson, Ashley (Greg) Sharrock, Michael (Cat) Shaw, Kayla Shaw, William (Trista) Shaw, Jessica (John) Brown, Nathan Szekely and Lauren (Alex Teschner) Szekely; numerous great great grandchildren, Dena Ferguson, David Ferguson, Dylan Ferguson, Cody Ferguson, Addie Ferguson, Libby Ferguson, Candyce (Hayden Lindsey) Sharrock, Mason Sharrock, Madison Shaw, Dylan Shaw, Maria Brown, Ryder Brown, Bentley Brown and Ryley Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie J. Oliver Shaw of 49 years, whom he married May 30th, 1964; a daughter, Patricia “Tricia” Shaw; and two brothers, Dave Shaw and Michael Shaw.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM with funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Looker officiating. Burial with Military Honors will conclude at 1:30 PM at the Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry Ohio.
