Dorothy McConnell

Dorothy McConnell, 86, of Zanesville, Ohio, passed away on August 15, 2025, at 4:48 a.m. at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Zanesville on March 17, 1939, to the late Harold and Geneva (Rushing) George.
Dorothy was a loving mother, cherished friend, and devoted sister who will be deeply missed and forever loved. A faithful member of Brighton Presbyterian Church for many years, she found great joy and purpose with her Church family. She also worked at Arco Carpet for several years, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
Dorothy is survived by her children Rick (Cindy) McConnell, Patricia McConnell, Cliff (Donna) McConnell and Linda Hopkins; her grandchildren: Tara Collins (Mason Wilder), Tiffany (Nick) Reed, Eric (Brittany) McConnell, Amy (Danny) Malenda, Kierra McConnell, Kiersten McConnell and Aiden McConnell; and her great-grandchildren: Justin Colborn, Jacob Smart, Quintan Hale, Alexyss Hale and Jarrad Stotts. She is also survived by her sister Donna Holshuer, her beloved bird Elton, her special dog Leela, and her dear neighbor Darlene Clarke.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert McConnell on November 13, 2006; daughter Brenda Goldsmith; brothers: David and Donald George; and sisters: Evelyn Ritchey and Elizabeth Schindler.
Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the love she shared with family, friends, and her community. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice for their compassionate care and to Nurse Crystal for her dedication and kindness in caring for our loved one.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 19 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday in The Snouffer Chapel. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
