Fatal Crash in Licking County

GRANVILLE, Ohio-The Granville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Newark man.
The accident happened Tuesday, August 19, just before 7:00 p.m. on State Route 661 at mile post 10.
Authorities said William Coss, age 46 of Newark, and Ashley Schorr, age 37 of Newark, were in a 2007 Honda Civic northbound on State Route 661.
Maryann Harvey, age 55, of Newark, was driving a 2023 Jeep Wrangler southbound on State Route 661.
Authorities said Coss’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, returned to the roadway, and drove left of center. Harvey swerved to avoid Coss’s vehicle, striking the rear of his vehicle. Coss’s vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway and overturned.
Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle. Harvey’s vehicle then traveled off the east side of the roadway and struck a mail box.
Harvey was treated at the scene by Burlington Township EMS and was released with minor injuries.
Schorr was transported to Licking Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She was later taken to Grant Medical Center.
Coss sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was transported from the scene by the Licking County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
