Carole Powell

Carole Ann Powell, lovingly known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Granny,” entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2025, with her devoted husband by her side. She was 82 years old.
Born on March 19, 1943, Carole was the daughter of the late Mearl and Adeline (Lucas) Joseph. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marilyn, and her son-in-law Dr. Tim Weir.
Carole is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dale Powell; her daughters: Nicki (Kevin) Lanzer and Melissa (Dr. Michael) Kalis; her granddaughters: Laurel (Alex) Mundell and Emily (Mario) Chadinha; and her four great-grandchildren: Henry, Jack, and Lucy Mundell, and Evelyn Chadinha.
Carole was a talented craftswoman. A gifted seamstress, she worked for years in a bridal shop, making alterations for countless brides. Her love for sewing, crochet, and knitting led to published patterns and designs, showcasing her artistry. Her green thumb could coax life out of any plant or garden. Whether she gardened, baked, or crafted it was done with excellence and a vision that was often ahead of her time.
Those close to her felt her generous spirit through her thoughtful, often handcrafted gifts. Carole had an extraordinary ability to find or create just the right gift, which was her way of expressing her love for family.
Having accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, her family rests in the assurance that she now rejoices in Heaven, reunited with loved ones who went before her.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Oaks at Northpointe and Shriver’s Hospice for their loving and attentive care.
