Upcoming Duncan Falls Car Show helps fund volunteer firefighters
DUNCAN FALLS, OH- The Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department is getting ready to host its 32nd Annual Car Show this Sunday.
The show will take place at 397 Oak Street in Duncan Falls. Registration runs from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., with 75 awards set to be handed out at 4 p.m. Last year, the event drew 263 vehicles, and organizers are hoping to beat that number this year. Anything with wheels is welcome. The day will also feature door prizes, locally sourced food from Wayne Township, and even vehicle trivia.
“Way back when, about two or three of us members had older cars and we went to car shows, and we thought, man we can do this here, so that’s what we started doing and it’s went from there ever since,” said Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief, Donald Alexander.
Every dollar raised goes directly to the department, which is fully staffed by volunteers. The money helps buy critical protective gear like gloves and hoods.
“This is a fundraising event for the fire department, we’re an all-volunteer organization, nobody in our department gets paid any amount of money, so this is when we raise money and we hope that the community enjoys coming out and seeing the vehicles and getting some food and having a good time,” said Alexander.
Organizers say the show is fun for all ages while also helping make sure firefighters can respond quickly when every second counts. For more information on the car show Sunday, you can visit the Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page.
