4-H On Display

McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio – County Fairs showcase the efforts that local 4-H participants put into their projects, that in many cases have become a big part of their lives.
Morgan County 4-H Member James Morrow is spending this week at the fair showing his Boer goat and took a moment to explain the tasks and how he got involved.
“Yeah, my grandpa, who lives just down the road, breeds goats, so that’s… and then my other cousins… had goats. So I did goats,” Morrow said.
Morrow said that show judges look for different traits that the goats possess and that the amount of money that he can get from his goat can vary between different auctioneers.
“It’s just, they’re a good starter project because they’re easy and not like a cow… cows and stuff, but they do what you want and stuff,” Morrow said.
Many rural families choose a type of animal to help teach their kids the values involved with raising animals and in most cases, 4-H is an organization that parents are adamant about getting their kids involved with.
