ZANESVILLE, Ohio – School may already be under way but there are still scholarships up for grabs.

The Muskingum County Community Foundation, or MCCF, is in the midst of their fall scholarship and award cycle for future and current college or trade school students to apply. With four different scholarships and one award up for grabs, Beth Fox of the MCCF wants to make sure every student takes a chance and applies.

“Some students, if they don’t click all the boxes, right? They will not submit. Other students if they click one of the boxes they submit. My suggestion to all the students is if you think you’re worth the scholarship, if you think you qualify under the application, submit,” Fox said. “What’s the worse that’s going to happen. A no? It’s ok. If we never take the shot, we never know if we’re going to be successful.”

Fox recommends setting up a calendar of deadlines, not waiting last minute to get your letters of recommendation, and to make sure that the essay is written by you and not by artificial intelligence.

“I know it’s easy to use the Google Gemini or the Copilot out there. We have a lot of tools at our disposal right now but those essays, those are, those are your words to the committee members. And so it’s important that they’re yours. Speak true to who you are and what your goals are,” Fox said.
