Early Morning Fire at Olde Falls Inn

ZANESVILLE, OH – An early-morning fire on Saturday has damaged Olde Falls Inn on Newark Road.

With what has been diagnosed as an electrical failure from a light fixture on the outside of the building.

The interior is heavily damaged, and the Inn is expected to be closed down for some time.

Falls Township Fire Chief Brady Johnson was in Columbus when he received the call at 8:40 am, before racing to the scene.

“Our first arriving units found that they had fire coming out of the eaves closest to the roadway” says Johnson. “The fire started getting into the attic. We were able to contain the fire to the attic, but it did cause significant damage to the inside.”

Johnson adds that the responders had to pull down the ceiling to stop the fire.

Inn owner Kenny Willey hopes to get open back up as soon as possible.

“You take it one step at a time, just waiting on the insurance guy to figure out what has to be done to be back up and running” says Willey. He added how grateful he was that plenty of regular customers showed up and want to help the Inn get back on its feet.

Willey has owned Olde Falls Inn for approximately 30 years, and has helped dedicate his life to this Zanesville staple.

No injuries were reported from the fire on Saturday morning.
