Zanesville Half Marathon and 5K returns

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Zanesville Half Marathon and 5K returns to downtown September 27, bringing together runners through the heart of the city and across the historic Y-Bridge.

The half marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K at 7:40 a.m., both starting at Secrest Auditorium. Major road restrictions will run from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., with cones in place starting at 3:30 a.m. Drivers are advised to plan out their morning commute to avoid delays.

“We encourage people to give the runners their space, and to pay attention, especially in the early mornings to the coned off lanes, and the intersections, we’ll have traffic Marshalls at almost every intersection, but just heed their warnings and pay attention to the runners,” said Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department Administrative Assistant, Jacob Wilson.

Road closures include Shinnick Street between Third and Fourth, Linden Avenue from Lee to McIntire, and West Taylor Street from Maple to Bell. Routes for both races can be found online at MapMyRun.com.

“The process for registering, you can go on RunSignUp.com and search for the Zanesville Half Marathon and 5K and it’ll take you through how to sign up and how to register, you can register before any day up to the Saturday of the event,” said Wilson.
