2025 Postseason Schedules for the Reds and Guardians
ZANESVILLE, OH – Only 162 difficult and strenuous games later, both the Reds and Guardians find themselves in the postseason mix, though both teams had to sweat it out over the last handful of games.
It took until the very last game for the Reds to find out their postseason fate, and despite a 4-2 loss to the Brewers, the top team in the National League, on Sunday, a Mets shutout loss to the Miami Marlins handed the Reds the final spot in a crowded field this year for the first time since 2020.
Meanwhile the Guardians pulled off a comeback unlike any the league has ever seen. Trailing the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central back in early July, things looked bleak in Cleveland. Fans were calling for a fire sale of players to the firing of manager Stephen Vogt, and maybe it’s a good thing that never happened. Over the next two and a half months, the team pulled off a historic comeback to not only secure a playoff spot on Saturday night, but a division crown on Sunday to back it up after Brayan Rocchio’s 11th inning walk-off three-run home run against the Texas Rangers on Sunday afternoon.
With the regular season come and gone, we now know the wild card round schedule for each Ohio-based major league team in a best of three series over three days this week.
